Democratic Parties urge “Vase Parties” to leave the political arena

Democracy activists from Huizhou Province delivered a vase

to each of the eight so-called democratic state parties,

urging them to leave the political arena

in commemoration of the 1911 revolution,

and not act as Communist “Vase Parties,” to fool the Chinese people.

Six democratic activists, including Chen Xi, Li Renke, and

Liao Shuangyuan, went to the

provincial Political Consultative Conference building

to deliver a vase and a statement

to each of the eight so-called democratic parties,

urging them to leave the political arena.

The parties were believed to have spent taxpayers’ money

but not in the Chinese people’s interest.

Thus, these parties serve as mere decorations, just like pretty vases.

One activist, Chen Xi, who is the director of the Guizhou branch

of the Democratic Party, said that Sun Yat-sen’s leaders

longed for democratic freedom, however, 100 years have passed

and mainland China still does not enjoy freedom and democracy.

On contrary, it is even worse, now.

Chen Xi: “Did these eight parties who claim to be democratic parties,

play any positive role?

It is necessary to make our own voices known;

to let these parties know how the public really feels about things.”

Chen Xi said that people refer to these parties as “vases”

because they fool the people with Communist Party ideologies,

using extremely cruel tactics against 1.3 billion people.

Li Renke, a democratic activist: “These so-called democratic parties

don’t exist to oversee and oppose the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Rather, they have no bearing on the community at all and should

be persuaded to withdraw from China’s history.

We shouldn’t let the CCP use these parties as a vase to fool people.”

Chen Xi said that delivering the vase was inspired by

artists like Ai Weiwei and is a peaceful expression

of democracy-leaning people.

These artistic activities, which include some of Ai Weiwei’s creations,

were suppressed by CCP authorities.

A similar example occurred when human rights activists in Sichuan

were arrested.

They chained themselves to each other, protesting against injustice.

Any activities that express opinions that go contrary

to the CCP ideology are immediately suppressed.

The peaceful democratic appeal, using eight vases,

was praised by a deputy election candidate.

He Depu, deputy election candidate: “Very good, very good,

certainly very good. I also support this; Guizhou has done well!”

However, all “Vase Parties” offices,

which are located on the first floor of the building,

were empty and the main door was locked.

Chen Xi and other activists spoke to the official who on duty and left.
