It may not be a magic carpet — but this creation made entirely of flowers cast a sweet-smelling spell on residents who crossed its path in Tel Aviv.

The floral carpet was a gift from Brussels to mark the northern Israeli city’s centenary.

這花毯是布魯塞爾送給這以色列北部城市,作為百年紀念的禮物。

Over a seven hour period, 100 volunteers carefully placed begonias and dahlias under the watchful eye of Belgian experts.

經過七個小時,百位志工在比利時專家的監督下,小心地排放秋海棠及天竺牡丹。

Designed by Israeli artist Adi Yekutieli, it is inspired by tiles and murals in the homes of Tel Aviv’s founding families.

Half a million flowers were used to make the carpet.

It’s on display in the city’s historic main square where former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated in 1995.

But the glorious groundcover won’t last long in the Israeli heat.

It will be dismantled after 24 hours and rolled into the rest of the city’s history.
