【新唐人】KO: Christians in India’s capital are protesting against a proposal by a provincial government to ban religious conversions. Here’s more.

STORY: Christians around the country have condemned the law, saying it is an attack on minorities across the state of Rajasthan where the ban is in place. The bill treats “forceful" conversions as an offence with no bail. It was passed by the state cabinet last month.

“The purpose of bringing this bill is to attack Christians. They have done it earlier, same type of bill was in Orissa and that was used against Christians mainly.”

Those convicted under the bill can be imprisonment up to five years.

Hindu activists say Christian groups use money and other unfair incentives

to lure members of tribal groups into religious conversions. But Christian groups say the missionaries only work for charity.

The state police recently had arrested two missionaries of Emmanuel Mission, located in the province. The book they were carrying allegedly contained offensive material about Hindu gods. The government also banned the publication.
