CCP to Suppress Press Freedom Violates Marxism

The Communist regime has ordered all journalists in China
to sign a confidentiality agreement
to ensure the secrecy of their work and information.

The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences will also start
recruiting 100 doctoral candidates in Marxist theory every year.
Chinese journalists are saying the regime’s tightened press
repression violates the Marxist doctrine, which showing
Marxism has become a fig leaf
for the Communist dictatorship.

The Chinese Communist media regulator issued a new
“Journalist’s Behavior and Information Management regulation."
It declares that media workers require confidentiality training
and must sign a confidentiality agreement prior to employment.

Former reporter of Bijie Daily, Li Yuanlong, says
the regulation is a means to block the truth and the news.

Li Yuanlong, former Bijie Daily reporter:
“News, as information, is freely shared by foreign media.
But what the regime does is not to improve the profession,
but is to tighten the information blockade in China,
and to keep such news from being revealed to outsiders."

The state media regulator stressed that media workers can’t
violate the agreement by providing sources to other media
or websites.

They also aren’t allowed to serve as special correspondents,
freelance writers, or columnists for foreign media.

Guang Yuan, former reporter for People’s Daily,
is the deputy editor of the Chinese news website Rose China.
He says this is yet another factor
in the suppression of journalists.
However, secrets no longer exist in the Internet era.

Guang Yuan, media professional: “With the expansion
of the Internet, even despite the Internet blockade in China,
many Chinese people are able to use software
that lets them bypass the blockade to learn the real news.
So imposing regulations on the media
can’t achieve [the regime’s goal to] block the news.
Most Chinese don’t read the official media or People’s Daily.
All know China Central TV generally broadcasts false news.
People read [social media, like] WeChat and Weibo."

Guang Yuan says the Rose China website was launched
with the purpose to report true news in China.
The Web server is located overseas, and people in China
have to use software to bypass China’s Internet blockade
to access the website.

While Beijing enhances the news blackout,
the banner of ideology is raised.
The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) has decided
to recruit 100 doctoral candidates in Marxist theory annually.

People’s Daily reported on Thursday that CASS
has included ideology in the cadre assessment,
and that violation of political discipline
will be subject to removal from office.

The report says that CASS Vice President Zhao Shengxuan
emphasizes that “political discipline" is the assessment’s
primary factor.

“Veto power" must be strictly applied
in the political responsibility assessment.
The state media comments that CASS is based on Marxism.

It raises its opinion at crucial moments, attempting to refute
the ideas of the West, such as constitutional democracy,
universal values, and civil society.

Li Yuanlong questions, “Is this Marxism is correct?
Where it has led China and the world to?
It is all clearly seen by everyone."

Li Yuanlong: “First, ask yourself,
do you believe that stuff?
Not even Chinese Communist Party members believe in it now.
Do you still believe in this ideology?
They are imposing on people something that no one believes.
In fact, it is not about having people to believe in Marxism.
Marx was actually very critical of news blackouts
and media censorship."

Du Guang is the former Central Party School Deputy Director.
Last September, he wrote that Marx
actually advocated for press freedom.

Marx said in his article,
“Comments on the latest Prussian censorship instruction":
“The real, radical cure for the censorship would be
its abolition; for the institution itself is a bad one,
and institutions are more powerful than people."

Li Yuanlong says that the Communist officials
don’t believe in Marxism.
It is only a means to an end:
Compelled obedience and uniformity.
