Mainland Chinese to “Occupy Shenzhen”
in Support of Hong Kong

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has escalated conflicts
in Hong Kong by releasing the recent white paper.

This modifies the definition of “One Country,
Two Systems” policy.

As a result, more Hong Kong people have been motivated to
voice support for democracy.

Over 700,000 Hong Kong residents have voted in
the referendum aiming at a political reform.

This clearly shows how strong Hong Kong’s civil power is.
The incident is also echoed by many Mainland Chinese.

Hunan residents held slogans in public to
support the referendum.

Some Chinese netizens are now planning an “Occupy
Shenzhen” movement on July 1st, supporting Hong Kong.

On June 18, netizens calling themselves “Promoters of
Occupying Tiananmen Square with Love and Peace”,
released an announcement for an “Occupy Shenzhen”
movement on the Internet.

They called on Mainland Chinese civilians to “occupy”
the Civil Square in Shenzhen on July 1.

The announcement quoted Teng Biao, a Chinese lawyer,

“both China’s rights activists and Hong Kong
residents have had nowhere to retreat to.
Without Mainland China’s democratization, Hong Kong will
never have real universal suffrage.
We hope to occupy Tiananmen with love and peace
someday in the future!”

The announcement admitted it may not be the best time to
start to “Occupy Tiananmen with Love and Peace”;

But, Mainland Chinese must express support for Hong Kong’s
“Occupy Central” movement demanding universal suffrage.

Hu Jia, Beijing social activist, “today, I think we have to stand
up to support Hong Kong’s referendum.

We have to support Hong Kong which is a bridgehead
of China’s democratization.

Most importantly reason we also need to fight for our own
sovereignty which our people lost 65 years ago.

Beijing social activist Hu Jia said, Hong Kong should have
implemented universal suffrage in 2007.

However the plan was forcibly delayed by the CCP to 2017.

Hu Jia:“the CCP is attempting to ‘water down’ the plan.
They intend to nullify the universal suffrage by manipulating
the election and making their candidate win.
Hong Kong residents are now fighting for their rights of
universal suffrage.
I think in some sense they are also defending all Chinese
peoples’ rights of universal suffrage.”

To stop the CCP manipulating the 2017 Chief Executive
Election, Hong Kong people are strongly behind the movement.

The “Occupy Central with Love and Peace” movement aims
at peacefully occupying Central District as an act of civil
disobedience, if the Hong Kong government does not agree to
run universal suffrage in line with international standards.

On June 10, the CCP State Council released the white paper
distorting the meaning of “One Country, Two Systems” policy.

The move is regarded as a reckless violation of Hong Kong’s
democratic autonomy.

Angered by the white paper, many Hong Kong residents have
voted in the referendum started by “Occupy Central”.

By doing this, they call on the Hong Kong government to
run real universal suffrage in response to public opinion.

A public opinion observer website of Hong Kong University
said, despite massive hacking attacks from the CCP against
the voting platform, over 700,000 have voted the referendum
since June 20.

The poll clearly shows Hong Kong people’s strong will and
determination in pushing for universal suffrage.

Mr. Chen, Chinese netizen in Guangzhou,“historically, any
system or regulation in a regime should be on public opinion.”

On June 26, some Hunan civilians held banners to get public
attention at Huangxing Road, Changsha City.

The slogans voiced support for the Hong Kong referendum.

They said “1.3 billion Chinese are not against the referendum”,
“Hunan also needs referendum”.

According to the announcement of “Occupy Shenzhen”,
the movement is anonymous and voluntary.

The time and place will not be announced again.

When arriving at the place, “please act in accordance with
Hong Kong’s Occupy Central movement”.

Netizens commented that the movement is a rehearsal
for “Occupy Tiananmen Square” in the future.

Hu Jia: “I think the Occupy Shenzhen movement has its
merits. It is encouraging to Hong Kong residents.
It continues to spread the concept of universal suffrage, letting
all know the natural voting rights above what the CCP gives us.
It is I who should determine the CCP’s future.”

Every July 1, there are numerous Hong Kong residents
making street protests against the CCP’s dictatorship.

On June 18, the organizer of July 1 March, Civil Human
Rights Front (CHRF), announced the plan for 2014.

The CHRF said, numbers of people may exceed 500,000 this
year, because of recent incidents including the white paper.
