Three Skynet Reporters Detained For Exposing Truth
about The Two Meetings

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) mouthpiece announced
that two polices were awarded by Beijing Public Security
Bureau in taking care of the Tiananmen Square “incident"
on March 5 of National People’s Congress opening day.
That day, “64 Skynet reporter Wang Jing disclosed
a Tiananmen Square self-immolation incident.
Currently, Skynet reporters Wang Jing, Liu Xue-hong
and Xing Jian have been detained for concerning themselves
with Beijing’s human rights situation
during the two sessions.

On March 10, CCP mouthpiece People’s Public Security News
announced Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau
sub-office rail construction police Zhang Xin and Tiananmen
Square Branch second patrol brigade deputy leader
Wang Xiangjiang successfully handled an emergency
on the opening day of the second session of the 12th
National People’s Congress.

The same day, they also received two awards from Beijing
Public Security Bureau and a certificate of commendation
from Vice Minister Fu Zhenghua.

However, the report revealed few details.

On March 5, 64 Skynet reporter Wang Jing told NTD
that the police were cleaning up the mess of a female
self-immolator around the Golden Water Bridge
of Tiananmen Square when she ran over.

64 Skynet reporter Wang Jing: “I heard that a 40-year-old lady
opened the cloth and the fire was coming out, then the fire
truck came.
The lady was taken away after four to five police
or security people sprayed fire extinguisher at her."

Wang Jing said: “The self-immolation was taken care of
in a few minutes.
After 11 p.m., a few petitioners were taken away by police.
Then security forces at Tiananmen were strengthened
with a police station every five meters."

However, Wang Jing was detained due to exposing
the Tiananmen self-immolation.

March 10, 64 Skynet Wang Jing’s mother Sun Yanhua
said Wang Jing’s three computers were taken away
by Jilin police in the afternoon.

At 5 p.m. that day, Wang Jing was detained
in Jilin City detention center on charges
of picking fights and provoking troubles.

In addition to Wang Jing, 64 Skynet correspondents Liu
Xue-hong and Xing Jian were detained by the authorities.

At noon on March 10, Hubei activist Liu Xue-hong’s husband
told Skynet: “six Beijing police officers took away three
computers and two cameras at his home on March 8 with
the excuse that they belong to Falun Gong practitioners."

In the afternoon of March 9, police told Liu Xue-hong’s
daughter that she is under detention at Beijing first detention
center in charge of the crime of picking quarrels
and provoking troubles.

March 10, Henan resident Xing Mei also told Skynet
his brother Xing Jian was in detention in Beijing.

64 Skynet founder Huang Qi: “The reason the three reporters
were detained was because they published the human rights
situation around Beijing, the Tiananmen self-immolation
and pollution of Mao Zedong’s picture, which attracted
official’s attention."

Huang Qi pointed out that the three reporters are exercising
their rights according to the law.
The authorities seriously violated the constitution
and the relevant laws and regulations to detain them.
He urged for their immediate and unconditional release
in protection of the fundamental citizens’ rights.

Xing Mei told Skynet that police alleged Xing Jing
took pictures at Tiananmen and sent them
to 64 Skynet founder Huang Qi.

The police claimed that 64 Skynet is a channel providing
foreign news and a riot.
But it’s not a good time to catch Huang Qi.

Huang Qi: “In recent ten years, hundreds of people were
suppressed because they told the truth.
Many of our communicators were officially warned
and arrested.
I believe people will eventually come out against them under
the repression of press freedom and rampant corruption."

51-year-old Huang Qi graduated from Sichuan University
Electronics Department.
In 1998, he and his wife Zeng Li founded the Chengdu
Skynet Tracing Service Center and established
the 64 Skynet website in 1999.

The website caused concern because of its articles critical
of the government.

In 2000, Huang Qi was sentenced to five years.

In 2009, Huang Qi was sentenced three years again
because he participated in a rights defense activity protesting
the shoddy construction of a collapsed school
during the Wenchuan Earthquake.
He was released in June 2011 and settled in Chengdu.
