Chinese Petitioners Demonstrate on The Eve of Human Rights Day

On the eve of World Human Rights Day,
Chinese petitioners in Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai
respectively held activities to demand human rights
from the Communist regime.
They pulled out banners and took to the streets
distributing “the Universal Declaration of Human Rights".

A few dozen petitioners from around the country
gathered together on December 7 and 8
for the upcoming World Human Rights Day.

They pulled out banners stating, “Pay attention
to the human rights, livelihood, and petitioners",
and “Demand Officials’ Property Declaration" in front
of the United Nations Office in China, the Revolutionary
Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang,
and on Wangfujing Street.

Cai Zhiguo, a Hebei petitioner: “We are veteran petitioners.
There is no security as a human being in China.
No law, no democracy, no freedom, and human rights.
Everything remains superficial, nothing is concrete.
We have to ask the international community to pay attention
to the rights of we, the petitioners."

Cai Zhiguo, is another Hebei petitioner.
He said that they also demand corruption be punished.
Petitioners’ problems will never be resolved
as long as the corrupt officials remain.
He said that they have been conducting activities to demand
human rights for more than two months.
Recently, they decided to discuss common concern
with minor (democratic) political parties in China.

Cai Zhiguo: “There are eight democratic
political parties in China.
We want them to pay attention to human rights
in China as well.
At least they are organizations, unlike us, the grassroots,
not allowed to organize, assemble, or demonstrate.
That’s why we call on people in various sectors
to pay attention to the human rights, the livelihood,
and the petitioners."

Earlier on December 3 and 4, nearly two thousand petitioners
conducted human rights demonstrations in Beijing.
Cai Zhiguo said that for days, the entire South Railway
Station was covered by police patrolling day and night.
Any small group of three to five people were expelled.

It won’t be easy to conduct an activity on the 10th,
World Human Rights Day.

On the afternoon of the 8th, more than 100 people also
went to the central park in Tianjin with banners
such as the one stating, “12.10 Human Rights Day,
We want human rights."

Tianjin petitioner Li Shulan said that petitioners’ rights
are not protected in China.
In the process of petitioning, they are often subject
to beatings by the black security and detention in black jails.
She also said that the activity was for everyone,
including herself.
They also pulled a banner stating, “Gong Jinjun Hero",
to support Gong, who killed a black security guard
who had intercepted their petitions with violence.

Li Shulan, Tianjin petitioner: “We have no human rights.
I am here to redress the injustice against my daughter.
She was beaten to death.

The accomplice was caught,
but the murderers are still free.
There are no human rights.

The police committed fraud,
and the court abused the laws.
Even with the witnesses, we don’t get justice."

Li Shulan’s 26-year-old daughter was brutally killed in 2009.

But Tianjin Public Security Bureau in Hexi Branch illegally
harbored the criminals and left the murderers at large.
Li Shulan has repeatedly been detained during her process
of petitioning for her daughter’s due rights.

On the 7th, Shanghai activists Tang Jianzhong,
Ding Juying and others also took to the streets reading
the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to commemorate
the 65th anniversary of this manifesto.

They also had a big banner that read, “Shanghai activists
commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights.

We have the responsibility to promote human rights in China.

It is the responsibility of every Chinese to improve
the human rights status in China."
They also distributed the manifesto free of charge
to people on the street.

Tang Jianzhong said that the majority of people are not aware
of the human rights day, or the content of the declaration.
He indicated that this is because of the lack of human rights
in China.
The information blockage by the authority has made
the Chinese unaware of the fact that their rights have been
infringed upon.

Tang Jianzhong, Shanghai activist: “China lacks
the rule of law. I am a victim of it.
After forced demolition, I have been homeless
for more than seven years.
I hope our situation will change.

I hope the people of the world will pay attention
to the situation in China.
I hope with our activities many more people
will be awakened."

The UN General Assembly adopted the “Declaration
of Human Rights" on December 10, 1948 in Paris, France.
It is considered an article to preserve basic human rights.

Ironically, on November 12 this year, countries
with the worst human rights records such as
the Communist regime and Russia became
elected members of the UN Human Rights Council.
This decision incited a global outcry.
This is simply an insult to human rights.
