Tibetan civil rights writer Woeser placed under house arrest once more

On 20 June, Beijing Tibetan civil rights
writer Woeser revealed on Twitter that
she, along with her husband Wang Lixiong,
expert on Tibet problems, were placed
under house arrest by the Beijing authorities.
This is the third time that her movements
were restricted this year.
Woeser believes the reason is due to the fact that she took
an interview with a foreign journalist who was traveling to Tibet.

Woeser said the regime allowed and arranged for a group
of foreign reporters to go to Lhasa to interview.
The reporters began to prepare for their interview,
including interviewing her.
She and her husband were treated as “noise” and
were placed under house arrest by the authority.
In her explanatory notes she said, “It seems that
foreign correspondents only want to hear that Tibetans are living happy lives.
It is evident that the authority was so afraid of
the facts regarding Tibet.”

Woeser predicts that the time of the house arrest
will last until June 25 or longer.

gathered at the work place to seek an explanation, and the construction company called the police.

Zhang Jianlin, vice director of Songze police station,
led riot police with two vehicles, to the gathering place.
When they arrived, he said nothing, drew his pistol
and ordered the police to beat the people.

The report said that the police held pistols
in one hand and riot sticks in the other.
They beat the relatives of the deceased,
who were rolling on the ground.

Shenyang city administrative clerks beat peddlers
and a thousand people surrounded

On June 19, five Shenyang city administrative clerks
had a scuffle with peddlers on a night market street,
which resulted in a thousand people
blocking the street to protest.
A large group of police dismissed the crowd
and the event lasted four hours.

According to a Radio Free Asia report, that night,

four or five city administrative clerks were patrolling
in Bashan night market street, Huanggu district.
When the peddlers in the street spotted them,
they immediately dispersed,
but a three person family operating a
fried chicken stand were caught.
The administrative clerks confiscated
their goods and equipment,
which caused dissatisfaction among the peddlers
who were with them, and a conflict erupted. A peddler was beat to ground.
