【新唐人2011年5月12日讯】为期两天的“美中战略与经济对话”已经于10号在美国华盛顿闭幕，针对这次对话成果，美国主要媒体都认为没有实际突破，但双方在中国人权问题上，有激烈交锋。而大陆媒体对此则闭口不谈，只报导了经济方面的内容。
为期两天的美中第三轮经济和战略对话，议题涉及人民币汇率、中美企业进入对方市场，地区安全，能源环境，和反恐等问题。同时，美国总统奥巴马、副总统拜登以及国务卿希拉里都对中国的人权提出直接批评。
在9号的开幕礼上，双方就在人权问题初步交锋。副总统拜登说，美国对中共镇压异议人士、维权律师和抗议者的做法感到担忧，强调任何关系不能建基于虚假的基础上。不过中共国务委员戴秉国则用“打太极”回应说，欢迎更多美国人到中国，亲身了解人权事业取得的进步。
9号晚上，奥巴马和中方官员会晤后，白宫发表声明。声明最后指出，奥巴马对中国现时的人权状况，表达关注，强调他支持普世人权，包括言论及宗教自由、取得资讯及参与政治活动的自由。
而希拉里10号在接受美国《大西洋月刊》采访时，批评中国人权记录“非常糟糕”。她还说，中共当局镇压异见人士是因为害怕民主，他们试图阻止历史，但这是徒劳的。她说，“他们办不到，但是他们要尽量撑得久些。”
对于美方对中国人权的批评，中共外交部副部长张志军也绕弯回应说，中国的人权状况究竟如何，中国13亿人民最有发言权。
但事实上，就在本次美中对话举行的时候，高智晟律师，艺术家艾未未等异议人士仍被超期羁押，作家廖亦武等仍遭到禁足，对于法轮功学员的迫害仍然在持续。
近期官方加紧对异议人士的镇压，被外界普遍视为是，中共当局出于害怕境内出现中东式民主抗议活动采取的措施，因此也引起国际间的谴责。
《美联社》引用分析人士的评论说，本周的“美中战略与经济对话”不会有什么突破。《纽约时报》则评论说，这样的舞台离中国的现实比任何时候都更加遥远。而且美中之间没有什么善意。
不过，中国国内的媒体对于会谈的报导则几乎都是关于经济议题。对于人权的话题，《新华网》的报导只轻描淡写的说“期待明年在华盛顿举行新一轮人权对话。”

No Breakthroughs in U.S.-China Dialogue
U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue

U.S. media don’t see any real breakthrough.
However, both sides battled on human rights issues
in China. Chinese Mainland media
mention nothing about this, only economic issues.
The 2-day dialogue discussed issues regarding
RMB exchange rate, foreign investments, energy,
regional security, environment and anti-terrorism.
U.S. President Obama, Vice-President Joe Biden
and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
all directly criticized China’s human rights issues.
Vice President Biden mentioned U.S.’s concerns
of Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) crackdown
on dissidents. He stressed, “No relationship
that’s real can be built on a false foundation.”
CCP’s State Councilor Dai Bingguo responded
by saying that more Americans are welcome
to China to see the progress in human rights.
On May 9, after President Obama’s meeting
with CCP officials, the White House
issued a statement, which mentioned
Obama’s concerns about human rights in China,
and stressed his support for universal human rights,
including freedom of speech and religion, access
to information, and freedom of political activities.
In an interview with The Atlantic on May 10,
Clinton criticized China’s rights record
as “deplorable." She said the CCP suppresses
dissidents out of fear: “They’re trying to stop history,
which is a fool’s errand. They cannot do it.
But they’re going to hold it off as long as possible."

Indirectly responding to U.S.’s criticism,
CCP’s Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun
said that China’s 1.3 billion people have a final say
regarding the human rights situation in China.
After the dialogue ended, many Chinese dissidents,
including lawyer Gao Zhisheng and artist Ai Weiwei
are still in detention, writer Liao Yiwu is grounded.
And the persecution of Falun Gong continues.
CCP’s recent aggravated suppression of dissidents
is widely regarded as measures
taken out of fear of democracy protests
similar to those in the Middle East. This is also
condemned by the international community.
Associated Press quoted some analysts
saying that the U.S.-China dialogue
wouldn’t have breakthroughs. The New York Times
commented that there seems to be
no goodwill between the U.S. and China.
Chinese media talks only about economic issues.
CCP’s Xinhua mentioned casually that (CCP is)
“looking forward to a new round of dialogue
on human rights next year in Washington."
