Jiang Mianheng Is Really In Trouble

Chinese social media domain on WeChat, zhengzhiju,
published a long article on Jan. 19,
analyzing the life as well as the official and business careers
of Jiang Zemin’s eldest son Jiang Mianheng.
Since Jiang Mianheng was removed from his position
as president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Branch,
this is the first time Chinese media has disclosed Jiang Mianheng’s
career with a long article.
The implications are worth thinking about by our readers.

Zhengzhiju is run by Beijing Youth Daily, a mouth piece
of Beijing Municipal Communist Youth League Committee.
Its article on Jan. 19 entitled, “Jiang Mianheng’s Roles in Life"
is the first long and detail introduction of Jiang’s experience
in politics and business,
as opposed to routine brief official news releases.

The Epoch Times, an overseas Chinese media company,
just published, on Jan 14, a special report entitled,
“The Great Disclosures of Jiang Mianheng’s Corrupt Kingdom."

It analyzed the trajectory of his career and the inside stories
of his corruption.

China expert Shi Shi said that Zhengzhiju’s article
corresponded closely to the Epoch Times publication.
It is not as detailed,
but gives a clear trajectory of Jiang’s business.

Shi Shi: “For instance, many overseas reports on his corruption
didn’t mention his investments in the Shanghai Bank
and Phoenix TV.

These are what were missing before,
but Zhengzhiju disclosed it this time."

Zhengzhiju introduced that in 1994, Jiang used the Shanghai
Alliance Investment Limited Company as a stepping stone
to formally start up his business career in China.

Afterward, he became a board director of China Netcom,
SAIC Motor, and the Shanghai Airport Authority.
He was also the legal representative of Shanghai Alliance
Investment (SAI).
His name often appeared in the relevant companies’
annual reports.
In fact, his SAI has been seen behind many sectors,
from China Netcom and Microsoft MSN,
to transportation such as Shanghai’s Automotive, Airlines,
Airport; the finance sector such as the Bank of Shanghai;
the media and entertainment sector such as Phoenix TV
and Oriental DreamWorks, which is a joint venture
of Chinese media groups with Hollywood’s DreamWorks
Animation SKG.

According to the Epoch Times’ special report, Jiang had created
his “telecom kingdom" starting from SAI.
Over the years, Jiang has had a hand in various important
economic activities, and he has had numerous titles.
In May 2001, he was seemingly the highest representative
of officials and businessmen of the Chinese delegation
at the Fortune Global Forum in Hong Kong.

But he was alleged to be involved in the financial fraud case
of Shanghai’s richest man Zhou Zhengyi
and the corruption scandal of former Shanghai branch manager
of the Bank of China, Liu Jinbao.
It is said that the amount in bribes he has received over the years
is far beyond what the Zhou family has received.

Zhengzhiju’s article also revealed Jiang’s 18 years of scientific
career in the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

In 1997, he was appointed as President of the Shanghai
Institute of Metallurgy.
At the end of 1999, Jiang Mianheng was promoted to
Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)
at 47 years of age.

Since 2005, he was unprecedentedly appointed as
concurrent president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences,
Shanghai Branch.

The Epoch Times analyzed the reason why he became
a leader at CAS, although lacking in academic achievements.
By then, the persecution of Falun Gong had been ongoing
for three months.
Due to the fact that there were many Falun Gong practitioners
at CAS, and fearing the social impact of the persecution,
Jiang Zemin decided to appoint his eldest son
as Vice President of CAS immediately.

Not until the end of 2011,was Jiang Miaheng removed
from his post at CAS.
This year, he was removed from the post
at CAS Shanghai Branch.

Shi Shi: “The article is kind of neutral, the detailed disclosure
of Jiang Mianheng’s career at this sensitive time signifies that
he is in big trouble.

The Xi Jinping camp might be ready to take further action
against him."

Just days before Jiang Mianheng left CAS Shanghai Branch,
Jiang Zemin was reportedly hiking at the Dongshan Ridge
in Hainan Province with the family.

It was interpreted by outsiders as ‘attempting to come back’.
But the news was quickly deleted in China.
A few days later, Jiang Mianheng was said to be dismissed
due to his “age".
However, most people are skeptical about this excuse.

The Epoch Times analyzed that Zhengzhiju’s article is a
common practice of the regime.
It is a repeat of what was reported about Zhou Yongkang
and Ling Jihua before they were sacked.
The content of Jiang Mianheng’s corrupt background
is a strong indication that Xi Jinping’s “tiger hunt"
is targeting the Jiang family.
