【新唐人2014年11月21日訊】美國《外交政策》雜誌日前公布了年度「引領全球百名思想者」，香港「和平佔中」發起人戴耀廷，以及「學民思潮」召集人黃之鋒入選，原因是他們的行動表現出：人們是可以勇敢對抗中共的。
《外交政策》（Foreign Policy）雜誌是美國《華盛頓郵報》集團旗下刊物，專註全球事務以及美國外交政策解讀。《外交政策》每年都會評選100名「引領全球的思想者」，並分為挑戰者、改革者、決策者等10大類。在11月17號公布的2014年度「百大思想者」中，發起「和平佔中」的香港大學法律系副教授戴耀廷，和「學民思潮」召集人黃之鋒，入圍「挑戰者」的類別。
《外交政策》評價說，自9月底以來，成千上萬的香港民眾、學生、工人走上街頭，抗議中共當局阻礙香港民主。而戴耀廷發起的以和平與愛的方式「佔中」行動，為抗議提供了「理智的構架」。
至於黃之峰，《外交政策》評價他是一位年輕的學生領袖，是香港最重要學生組織——學民思潮的召集人。他和不同年齡的支持者，致力於共同維護和推進香港的高度自治。
《外交政策》解釋，二人入選的原因是——「讓北京（當局）緊張」。
時事評論員唐靖遠：「這個（雨傘）運動最大的意義在於，它不但代表香港人對抵制中共黑暗統治的一種覺醒，而且它同時也給大陸民眾做了一次很生動的示範。甚至對大陸的政治格局產生了非常大的影響，這個對整個中共的獨裁體制衝擊力是非常大的。這個也是中共體制內，那些一心想要維持這個體制的人非常恐懼的原因」。
然而，這並不是國際媒體第一次對「佔中」領袖表示關注，在今年10月，黃之鋒就曾登上當期《時代》雜誌封面，《時代》在文中寫到：黃之鋒與香港學生發起爭取民主的運動，已在香港掀起一場「青年地震」。
評論人士指出，《外交政策》等知名媒體對戴耀廷和黃之鋒的評價，實際上也隱晦的表達了國際社會對「佔中」的態度。
唐靖遠：「因為美國是自由世界民主國家的一個代表性國家。它們的一份比較權威雜誌給予了戴耀廷和黃之峰一個比較正面、肯定的榮譽呢，其實它實質上是代表了國際社會對『佔中』的一種態度。而這種態度顯然是傾向於一種支持和肯定的態度。這種態度對體制內那些企圖使用流血、武力來解決佔中這部分勢力來說，也是可以說是一種有力的抑制吧！」
同時，參與「佔中」的民眾在得知這一消息後，也表示受到了很大的鼓舞。
香港城市大學政治學教授、真普選聯盟召集人鄭宇碩：「這一類的評價當然對全香港民主運動，都起到重要鼓舞的作用的。大家都看到，目前我們『佔中』運動的確是引起全球的關注，贏得全球的同情。不僅爭取民主是符合大家的普世價值，對北京來說也起著一定的壓力，因為今天中國總是期望發展它的所謂『軟實力』，總期望它有一個良好的國際形象。所以國際社會支持香港人爭取民主，對北京總會起著一定的壓力的。」
《外交政策》指出，雖然「佔中」運動還在持續，可能很快會被清場，但它向世人展示的是：人們是有勇氣敢於站出來面對中共當局的，即使只有一或兩個月。
香港城市大學政治學教授，真普選聯盟召集人鄭宇碩表示：雖然大家對實現真普選並不樂觀，也知道中共當局讓步的可能性極小，但是香港民眾依然不會放棄民主運動。因為只要一天不放棄，一天就不算失敗，起碼能維持自己的尊嚴，能維持自己的原則。

2014 Leading Global Thinkers: Benny Tai and Joshua Wong
Benny Tai, co-founder of Occupy Central With Love and Peace,
and Joshua Wong, leader of student movement Scholarism,
were both elected Foreign Policy magazine’s leading global
thinkers of 2014.
According to FP, both of them have shown that
“one can stand up to Beijing.”
Foreign Policy magazine, owned by Washington Post, is focused
on global affairs and analysis of American foreign policy.
Among the top 100 leading global thinkers are 10 categories
such as the challengers, agitators, decision makers and so forth.
Identified amongst the 2014 challengers are Benny Tai, an associate
professor of Law at the University of Hong Kong,
and Joshua Wong, a leader of Scholarism.
Foreign Policy wrote, “Since late September, thousands—
and at times tens of thousands–of students, workers, and
activists have taken to the streets,
protesting against the Chinese government’s resistance
to democracy in Hong Kong.
Tai’s organization, Occupy Central With Love and Peace,
has provided the intellectual framework for the protests.”
“Wong is the youthful, charismatic leader of Hong Kong’s most
important student movement, Scholarism.
Wong and his allies of all ages aim to preserve and advance
an identity that is separate from China’s.”
Foreign Policy concluded that both of them were selected
“for making Beijing sweat.”
Commentator Tang Jingyuan: “The major significance of the
(Occupy Central) movement,
not only has it represented Hong Kongers’ awakening and
resistance to the dark rule of the CCP,
but also demonstrated vividly to the mainlanders.
It’s had a huge impact upon the political landscape and the
Communist dictatorship in China.
It also frightens those who are sole bent on maintaining the regime.”
Earlier in October, Joshua Wong made front page of the
Time Magazine cover.
Time Magazine made this statement, “Joshua Wong and his fellow students have triggered a youth-quake
that’s shaking up Hong Kong.”
Commentators believe these well-known media reports
of Benny Tai and Joshua Wong,
are in fact veiled expressions of the international community’s
attitude towards the Occupy Central movement.
Tang Jingyuan: “Because the United States is a representative
of the Western democratic nations,
such a positive and affirmative honor from a relatively
authoritative magazine,
is a substantial representation of the international community’s
attitude towards the Occupy Central.
This attitude is clearly inclined to support and assure the movement.
This attitude can be a powerful force, enough to hinder those who
intend resolving the Occupy Central with blood and arms!”
Meanwhile, participants of the Occupy Central also expressed
their encouragement from the nominations.
Professor of Political Science, City University of Hong Kong,
Alliance for True Democracy convener Joseph Cheng:
“This evaluation greatly encourages the democratic movement
in Hong Kong.
Our Occupy Central has clearly attracted global attention
and worldwide understanding.
The fight for democracy is a universal value
and poses pressure on Beijing.
The regime has tried to develop its so-called soft power
approach to bring a good international image.
Thus the international support for the fight for HK democracy,
is always a strain on Beijing.”
Foreign Policy wrote, “The protests are still ongoing, but are
likely to dissolve or be dissolved soon.
Tai and Wong however, have shown that one can stand—
up to Beijing even if only for a month or two.”
Professor Joseph Cheng indicates: Although people are not
optimistic of achieving true universal suffrage,
and are aware the Communist regime is unlikely to yield,
the Hong Kongers however, will not give up on the
democratic movement.
As long as it lasts, everyday counts as a day of effort
in defending the dignity and principles people hold true.
