Television Spots in China an Act of Justice

Zhong Dingbang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Taiwan,
was recently arrested by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
domestic security bureau, which caught the attention
of media and citizens across the strait.
The CCP mouthpiece, Xinhua net, claimed Zhong Dingbang
‘destructed broadcasting facilities’ and attacked and
interfered with satellite signals of China’s broadcasts.
The claims were widely disputed.
Many occasions of broadcast interruption with television spots
by Falun Gong practitioners in the past became hot topics.
Once again, the overseas press is abuzz.

The Minghui website published commentary on June 29
with background on why Falun Gong practitioners would broadcast television spots.
The memo explained that it is due to the persecution
of Falun Gong by the CCP,
which utilizes all newspapers and TV stations
to spread rumors and lies denouncing Falun Gong.
This is especially so with the ‘False Fire’ Self-immolation
at Tiananmen Square,
which was imputed to Falun Gong in order to incite hatred
of the people, and create a pretext for escalation in the persecution.
All media in Mainland China have become the mouthpiece
of CCP, but Falun Gong practitioners are deprived of all rights to speak.
In this situation, Falun Gong practitioners broadcasted
inserts containing truthful information,
which is an exercise in constitutional freedom of speech,
as well as in maintaining the public’s right to learn the truth.
These actions should be subject to praise and honor.

The article analyzes that, in a normal country,
the government has no right to interfere with the media.
In the U.S., the government cannot own domestic-oriented
media. The media’s role is to supervise the government.
In Mainland China, the press has been occupied by the CCP
and become tools to deceive and persecute the people.

The article says Falun Gong practitioners broadcasted inserts
to tell the truth to audiences, which allowed the media to exercise its social responsibility of reporting the truth.

The article also quoted a lengthy report from The Weekly
Standard, a US publication, on December 6, 2010, which
discussed how mainland China TV film inserts cases have
become the myth and legend in the promotion of freedom of information,
and have inspired research and development of anti-censorship
software on China’s internet, including Dongtaiwang(Dynamic Net), Wujie (Unbounded), and freegate.
TV broadcast inserts became the first of its kind
to promote freedom of information.

The author concluded that he did not know if Mr. Zhong
Dingbang has participated in the broadcast insert incident,
but in any case, doing ‘truth film inserts’ is an admirable act
of justice.

Hu’s Visit to Hong Kong

On June 29, Chinese President Hu Jintao officially began
a 3-day visit in Hong Kong.
He will attend the inauguration of the fourth HKSAR Chief
Executive, as well as 15th anniversary celebration of the return of Hong Kong to China.
Over the past few weeks, Hong Kong people were widely
dissatisfied, so Hu Jintao may face multi-party protests and demonstrations.

Regarding the ’embarrassments’ that Hu Jintao may face,
the Epoch Times News analyzed that Zhou Yongkang,
secretary of the Political and Law Commission of CCP,
deliberately stirred up troubles for President Hu Jintao.
As early as 2007, Hong Kong authorities refused entry
to nearly a thousand Falun Gong practitioners.
Reports said, Zeng Qinghong, a key member of Jiang’s group,
attempted to force Hu Jintao to participate in the persecution.
On the eve of Hu Jintao’s visit to Hong Kong, Zhou Yongkang
not only fabricated a ‘suicide’ story in the murder of Li Wangyang,
a man of steel in 6-4 massacre, but also masterminded high
profile attacks of Falun Gong truth-clarification sites in Hong Kong.
Zhou is once again planning political abduction,
and set Hu Jintao on fire.

Hu’s visit to Hong Kong will be his last before the 18th
National People’s Congress Meeting.
Taipei Central News Agency reported that Zhang Wuyue,
director of the Institute of China Studies in Taiwan’s Tamkang University,
stated that during Hu’s trip to Hong Kong, Hu has more
intends including paving the way for the next-generation successor Xi Jinping.
